After Tough OT Loss to the Spurs, the Grizzlies Are Back in the Saddle Tonight Against the Thunder

This is one of those games where the final score doesn’t tell the whole story.

I’m not going to call it a moral victory, but it was a sign this squad isn’t nearly as afraid of the Spurs as they rightfully have been in seasons past.

Which could not have come at a better time, as it appears the Grizzlies will be once again facing the Spurs in the first round of the playoffs.

After being down 9 points heading into the 4th quarter, the Grizzlies put forth a valiant, 33 point offensive effort. It was enough to send the game into overtime, but it didn’t leave enough in the tank for them to close out with a win.

Final: Grizzlies – 89, Spurs – 95

A few things:

I am so here for this lob from Mike Conley to Brandan Wright.

It should go without saying I am always here for Vince Carter anything.

I know I am not the only one that screamed in horror after Mike Conley ended up down on the court, doubled over in pain and bleeding copiously. He was also assessed what might’ve been the most BS offensive foul call of the season.

Injury Bear Feels Your Pain

It doesn’t appear Conley was seriously injured, but he did require stitches and will be sidelined for tonight’s game against the Thunder.

Zach Randolph is still a baller. If you need a bucket, he can get you a bucket.

Shout out to Troy Daniels and Wayne Selden, who both balled out. (Except for free throws. Let’s work on that.)

On to the next one…

The Grizzlies are at home tonight in the Grindhouse as they face off against the Oklahoma City Russell Westbrooks Thunder for the fourth and final time this season.

A Grizzlies win tonight would split the season series between them and the Thunder, and potentially influence seeding for the playoffs.

And it appears this Memphis squad will have to pull off a victory without the considerable talents of Mike Conley and Tony Allen.

The Grizzlies have noticeably struggled the last few games, and being down two key players, they are REALLY going to need everyone to step up and contribute tonight. *pointed glance at Marc Gasol*

Patient Bear is patiently waiting on a good 3rd quarter

Maybe tonight will be the night the Grizzlies figure out 3rd quarters again? We’ll find out soon enough.
