Hopefully the collective blood pressure of Grizz Nation has returned to normal, as tonight in the Grindhouse our Memphis Grizzlies will face off against the Detroit Pistons.
The Grizzlies have won 9 of the last 10 matchups against the Pistons since the 2009-2010 season, but that is no reason for Memphis to be complacent against a Detroit team that will be looking to continue the momentum that lead them to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder in overtime last night.

After clawing their way back Thursday night from a 26 point deficit to beat the Kings by one with Courtney Lee’s incredible buzzer beater, the Grizzlies need to come out swinging tonight. While I am certainly happy that we were able to pull out the win, there was still much to be desired about the performance we saw from the team in the first half.
Moving forward, from the opening tip to the final buzzer, focus should be on playing strong on both ends of the court and preventing teams from piling up a double digit lead that we have to scramble to overcome. After being out rebounded 44-30 on Thursday night, tonight we need to do a better job of attacking the glass and grabbing boards on both ends of the floor.

While I am not ready to definitively declare that the early season slump our bench has been in is over, there has certainly been much improvement, especially Thursday night against Sacramento, when the bench delivered a season high of 50 points. This is the sort of effort we need to see from the reserves on a more consistent basis, the starters alone cannot continue to carry the rest of the team.

Speaking of the starters, it would be great to see a return of the aggressive Marc Gasol who featured prominently in the first few games of the season. When Marc is in beast mode and we run the offense through him, this team is an even greater force to be reckoned with.

Tip-off is at 7 PM at FedEx Forum, and there are still plenty of tickets available. You can also catch the broadcast on Fox Sports South, or the radio broadcast on 92.9FM and 680AM.
