Memphis Grizzlies Open Practice 2015

Share the joy

The Grizzlies held their annual Open Practice on Tuesday, October 13, 2015.  It was free and open to the public.  Starting at 12pm, the Grizz Girls and Claw Crew entertained fans, gave away vouchers for free preseason tickets, passed out Grizz fan schedules and posters, and had activities such as a DJ and inflatables set up for the kids.  The Grizzlies Blue Bunch performed a dance number and had no interruptions from anyone walking through during the performance (looking at you TA).  The Grizzlies Grannies & Grandpas also captivated the assembled crowd as usual with a high-energy performance.  We all know the Grannies & Grandpas never disappoint.

By the time the doors opened the crowd was huge.  I’ve never been to an Open Practice with people still streaming in so long after the start!

Fans got a chance to see the team work on defensive and offensive drills, passing, transition sets, conditioning drills (we won’t discuss the Jeff Green missed dunk to end the 21 ;), and the favorite by far, the 3-point competition, won by the one and only Big Spain, Marc Gasol, with 19 3’s in 60 seconds.

GrizzNation, Gasol’s matador pose after he won the contest was worth the trip all by itself!

It was great to see how the players interacted with the fans, especially the younger fans sitting courtside, with huge smiles.

If you’ve never gotten a chance to go to Open Practice, please take the opportunity to go if possible.  You won’t regret it!
