Grizzlies Feast on Nuggets
The Memphis Grizzlies were hungry last night and chose to make a meal of the Denver Nuggets. They led wire-to-wire on their way to a 119-99 smackdown on a short-handed Denver team.
Stats Breakdown:
Memphis:
*Marc Gasol continued to prove his place as an All Star. In only 24:13, Gasol had his way with the Nuggets. He had a game-high 24 points on 9/15 shooting, went 3/4 from beyond the arc, was a perfect 3/3 from the free throw line, had 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block. Aggressive, selfish Marc is my favorite Marc.
Marc Gasol is 24 of 49 from 3 over his past 10 games. That dude is so good.

*Mike Conley is looking more like himself. He finished with 18 points (16 of those in the 1st half) on 50% shooting, 4 boards, 5 dimes, and a steal.
We start this game with @mconley11 for three!!! #GrindCity pic.twitter.com/WHgE2NvM7h

*Vince Carter, the Ageless One, had another good night. He ended with 14 points, was 4/6 from the field, went a perfect 3/3 from beyond the arc, went 3/4 from the line, grabbed 5 rebounds, had 6 assists, and a block. Carter continues to show the world that just because he’s now the oldest active player in the league, he’s still got plenty of gas in the tank. VC now sits at 2001 career 3’s. Keep shooting!!!

Denver:
*Jameer Nelson was ejected less than 4 minutes into the 1st quarter after jawing with the ref causing 2 quick techs.
*Danilo Gallinari finished with 14 points before leaving with a left groin strain late in the 3rd quarter, Kenneth Faried had 11 points and 11 boards, Jusuf Nurkic (who I still haven’t forgiven for disrespecting Marc Gasol) only had 4 points, Emmanuel Mudiay had 14 points and a team high 7 assists, and former Grizz Darrell Arthur had 14 points (4/7 from beyond the arc).
*Denver was without Nikola Jokic (left hip flexor strain) and former University of Memphis guard Will Barton (sore left ankle).
Tidbits:
*Memphis is now 3-1 on a 6 game road trip. They play OKC on Friday and the Timberwolves on Saturday before coming home to play the Spurs on Monday night.
*Memphis is now 30-21 on the season.
*The Grizzlies are hitting from beyond the arc at a clip they have rarely seen. They are currently shooting 35.7% from trey on the season. It’s not just one or two guys hitting it from 3 either. It’s a team effort. Against the Nuggets, Gasol went 3/4, Conley went 2/7, Harrison was 2/3, Carter was 3/3, Ennis was 2/4, and Daniels was 2/3.
This is crazy:@memgrizz have hit 10+ 3s in 16 of their last 22 games.
Prior to this season, they hit 10+ 3s in 16 of their last 271 games

*This will blow your mind…
With tonight's win the @memgrizz have secured the first .500-or-better record in franchise history on a road trip of five games or more.

The last time the @memgrizz won consecutive road games, each by a margin of 19 points or more, was from Nov. 26-30, 2005.

*No Grizzly played more than 30:08 (Tony Allen).
*Simply put, the Grizzlies did exactly what they were supposed to against a tired Nuggets squad that had lost against the Lakers the night before. They dominated from start to finish. Isn’t it nice to see a blowout win instead of these close games all the time? My heart doctor thanks you, Grizzlies.
