Recap: Wizards elude Grizzlies, sweep season series

It was a frustrating night for your Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies scored the first two points in the game off Mike Conley’s free throws in the opening seconds of the game, giving them the first and only lead.

Washington point guard John Wall responded with a 3 point bucket soon after on the other end. Bradley Beal and John Wall were able to run roughshod over the home team, finishing with a combined 38 points, while Drew Gooden added another 16.

Once again the Grizzlies were plagued with shooting troubles, finishing with 34 of 81 shooting, and an especially abysmal 1 of 15 from beyond the arc.

Marc Gasol and Mike Conley were the only two Grizzlies players to score in double digits, with 18 and 14 points respectively.

Jeff Green finished with 9 points, and ended up leaving the game in the second half due to back spasms.

It was another game without Tony Allen and his many talents, talents the Grizzlies could have desperately used tonight.

Zach Randolph struggled all night to find a rhythm and was mostly unsuccessful, finishing with just 6 points. Zach could be seen on the bench with his elbow wrapped, which might have something to do with his lack of offensive aggressiveness.

Some things of note:

Yet another game the Grizzlies can’t shoot the 3 ball. It seems to me they would have been better off trying to post up or finish at the rim rather than continue to take outside shots that are not falling. Ultimately this Grizzlies team is going to have to find some consistency in that regard, and it would be great if that could happen sooner rather than later.

Jeff Green can get up, and throw down. His monster dunk on Kevin Seraphin in the second quarter is the stuff that dreams and highlight reels are made of. If we can have nothing else tonight, at least we can have this magnificent slam.

The Grizzlies will get a few days rest before they take on the Pelicans on Wednesday, hopefully it will be enough to recharge and grind out these last few games of the regular season.
