Preview: Grizzlies vs Rockets

Tonight your Memphis Grizzlies will be at home in the Grindhouse to face off against the Houston Rockets. The team had several days of rest after beating the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday, so hopefully we will see fresh legs and a consistent level of energy.

For as bumpy the start of the season was for the Grizzlies, the Rockets have had it worse, culminating with the firing of long-time head coach Kevin McHale just two days ago. In the one game the Rockets have played since the dismissal of McHale, they powered their way to the win. Whether it was a fluke or not remains to be seen, but I would just assume that this is a Rockets team with a big chip on their collective shoulders, and perhaps eager to prove something to themselves and the rest of the league.

Which should make tonight’s game against the Grizzlies all the more fun to watch. Memphis will be looking to extend their first winning streak of the season from three games to four, and Houston will be looking to build on their momentum from earlier in the week and start a win streak of their own.

Possible injury report: I’m hearing Zach Randolph is listed as a game time decision due to a sore knee. Coach Joerger did not give any indication who might start in his spot if he isn’t able to play.

After an Instagram exhortation from recent Grizzlies addition and new fan favorite Mario Chalmers for the Grindhouse to be turned up tonight, I predict the atmosphere in the Forum will be especially festive.
And if Chalmers goes off for 29 points from the bench again? I hope event staff has a plan for what to do if and when Grizz Nation blows the roof off that mother, because they may well need it tonight.
