Takeaways

Wooo, glad that game is finally over and the Grizzlies were able to come out on top. The Grizzlies extended their winning streaks to six straight games.

The Grizzlies were out-rebounded and the bench was out-played by the Sixers. At times, the Grizzlies were out-hustled. This was an ugly grind it out game. The Grizzlies don’t do things pretty, they just find ways to win games. It’s who they are and what they do. For the Grizzlies, the grind just don’t stop.

What They Said!!!
Coach Fizdale

On the game:

“I keep saying the same thing. This team just finds a way. They collectively, themselves, they gather themselves and they just find a way to grind games out. It’s the characteristics of a championship ball club. Maybe others don’t see it, but I’m in the locker room with these guys, under these circumstances, where we have guys really banged up and guys out in key parts. Guys stepped up. I thought Troy Daniels was ready, he kept himself ready. He’s such a professional, he gave us some big minutes there. Zach Randolph down the stretch knows how to get it done. We made some bone-head decisions down the stretch, we gave up some threes when we shouldn’t have, but even in those moments, we just kept digging in.”

On the game helping the team overall:

“When you get to April, these are the games you look back on. You preach to your team that there is another level to go to. When it gets tight, it becomes a habit to be able to play under duress and tough circumstances. That’s what we’re building right now; we’re building trust, we’re building good habits and we’re understanding how to win games.

Marc Gasol

On Embiid:

I don’t think it mattered so much, just trying to exploit and try to create something out of the post-ups. We’ve always been a post-up team, obviously he’s a big kid, big player, physical player. But that time the matter was who was guarding who. Zach had it going for a little bit and was playing really good. Then we went to the other side and played good and we were able to win the game.

On the resiliency of the team:

Most of the games that we play are close. That’s the games that we used to play. We feel very comfortable in those situations. We know what we’re looking for, we have to work at it a little more because we have newer players and newer systems. We still have to work on that chemistry at the end of the games. Who is going to have the ball in those situations?
