Grizzlies @76ers Preview: A Head to Head Review

Share the joy

The Memphis Grizzlies have one more road game before heading home for Friday’s night game against Coach David Fizdale’s old team, the Miami Heat.  Tonight they will face the Philadelphia 76ers.  The 76ers have seen another rough start this season especially losing top draft pick, Ben Simmons, to injury before the season started, but they have seen improved play as of late and have won their last 2 games.  I don’t want to say it, but it needs to be said…this could be a TRAP GAME if the Grizzlies don’t take them seriously. What do the Grizzlies need to do to ensure they’re the one who keeps their winning streak?

Head to Head Match-Up

Points Allowed:  Grizzlies 96.5;  76ers 107.1

3 PT Field Goal %:  Grizzlies 34%;  76ers 36%

Rebounds Per Game:  Grizzlies 42.4;  76ers 42

Assists Per Game:  Grizzlies 19.6;  76ers 22.1

Blocks Per Game:  Grizzlies 4.9;  76ers 5.5

Turnovers Per Game:  Grizzlies 14.6; 76ers 17.2

Injuries:  Grizzlies still have Brandan Wright (ankle) and Chandler Parson (knee bone bruise) out tonight.  James Ennis III (calf injury) has been added to the list for the next two weeks after leaving the Charlotte game early on Monday.  The 76ers are without Ben Simmons and Nerlens Noel.  Former Grizzlies guard Jerryd Bayless returned to the 76ers line-up during their last game after missing the first 13 due to a wrist injury.

The Grizzlies are on a 7 game win streak against the 76ers.  The last time the 76ers defeated the Grizzlies was December 26, 2012.  While the Grizzlies have defense and experience in their favor, the 76ers have youth and nothing to lose in theirs.  Not all of the wins in that 7 game winning streak against the 76ers have been easy wins.  Let us never forget the the December 13, 2014 game in Philadelphia where the Grizzlies literally won the game in the last 5 minutes of regulation play and 5 minutes of overtime.  We don’t need that kind of exhilaration tonight.

Hopefully, the younger guys can get some run tonight if the home team can go in and set the pace early against the 76ers, especially with another rotation player out for a while. We’ve got another early tip-off tonight Grizz Nation.  So, while you’re getting your Thanksgiving dinner ready for tomorrow, don’t forget to tune in and cheer on the home team at 6 p.m. as they face the 76ers.  Go Grizz!
