Grizzlies blot out the Suns
Grizzlies blot out the Suns.
If I had to sum up this game in a few phrases they would be as follows:
Zach Randolph can ball. Zach Randolph is a baller. He’s a Willis Reed type dude.
Mike Conley led all scorers with a career high 38 points, 7 of 8 from the free throw line and SEVEN OF TEN FROM BEYOND THE THREE POINT LINE. YES THAT DESERVED ALL CAPS
Conley may have been the game high scorer, but Zach Randolph was undoubtedly the star of the show during several points throughout the game. Z-Bo finished with 18 points, including 2 of 3 from three(!), and a spectacular dunk we will all be telling our grandchildren about. One that should’ve counted for AT LEAST 4 points. I’m just saying.
The Grizzlies lead this game from wire to wire, which is both noteworthy and encouraging. While it might not seem like such a difficult feat against a Suns team whose record is currently 15-33 for the season, the Grizzlies tendency to play down to their competition has cost them several wins already this season. They didn’t do that here, and they came away with a 19 point win.
Moving forward tonight in Denver against the Nuggets, the Grizzlies can expect a potentially tired but determined team waiting for them.
No doubt this Nuggets team is still (rightfully) quite salty about the circumstances regarding their narrow and controversial loss to the Grizzlies on November 8th.
That loss hinged on a bad call in the final seconds of the game, incorrectly awarding Memphis possession of the ball, with 0.7 seconds left on the clock and allowing Marc Gasol to hit a game-winning shot.
The Nuggets filed an official protest with the league on November 10th, which was subsequently denied two weeks later.
All that equals a very hacked off Nuggets team looking to enact some revenge on their home turf.
Which means the Grizzlies are going to have bring their A game tonight, and not get complacent after the last two wins. Definitely do not play down to their competition.
