Highlights
Takeaways

It’s no longer a secret; this is a dangerous team. Last night, they were clicking on all cylinders. The best defensive team in the league held the best offensive team to 89 points. They believe in themselves and believe they can compete with any team in the league. This was a decisive win against arguably the best team in the league. As I have said time and time again, this team is at it’s best when they have something prove. They don’t like to be underestimated by anyone because they know what they are capable of.

Holding Steph Curry and Klay Thompson to 8-of-28 is not an easy feat. This team needs to continue to believe in themselves and not pay attention to the doubters.

What They Said!!

GRIZZLIES HEAD COACH DAVID FIZDALE

On saying anything to get the Grizzlies amped up:

“I don’t think we have to say anything to get them amped up to play the [Golden State] Warriors. That’s a great team over there. They are incredibly coached team as well as an incredibly talented group that can play the game right way, share the ball and defend. Our guys knew they had to come out and play a great game. We knew we had to play a great game to 0.1 [seconds] to win the game. It just worked out that the scored ended up the way that it did. We have a group of characters in there and they knew what was at stake.”

[perfectpullquote align=”right” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]GRIZZLIES CENTER MARC GASOL    On getting the win:   “I think we did a good job keeping their crowd out of the game for the most part. I think our crowd won and we didn’t let their fans get too excited throughout the game. That was a positive and I thought they never could get a hold of us. Could never get three or four possessions where they get a good run, they get confidence and I thought we did that obviously with defense. Obviously we played defense with our offense a little bit too, we never got a little too far ahead of ourselves. We controlled the tempo pretty well and it was pretty good.”  [/perfectpullquote]

GRIZZLIES FORWARD TONY ALLEN

On the young guys getting a win like this:

“Anytime we can get those guys on the court and play valuable minutes… each guy was key tonight. Andrew (Harrison), Troy [Daniels], the new guy TD [Toney Douglas], everybody was big tonight. A collective win as a team and we just had, like I say, ‘One team, one goal,’ mindset and hold our hats on the defensive end.”

On getting to play point guard:

“Well, honestly, I’ve been waiting to run some point. I turned it over one possession. I was kind of mad at myself. Luckily, we got the ball back. I’ve been politicking, trying to play point honestly and tonight I was able to get a run at that and I was glad we had some execution in that.”
