Will the Goon Squad shine in Toronto?

Share the joy

The new look Memphis will do battle with the Toronto Raptors for the first of two meetings this season.

The Grizzlies look to win their fourth straight road victory and prove they can contend with a playoff bound team. The Raptors are trying to avoid their third straight loss.

Both teams need this victory for different reasons. This will be an ugly hard fought game by both teams. Will the Goon Squad get their shine on in Toronto?

Keys to the Game

1. The Grizzlies newly acquired player Lance Stephenson will be active and available to play. Will Born Ready [Stephenson] be ready?

2. The Grizzlies need to continue to play great defense even though they will be missing Marc Gasol and possibly Tony Allen (who is questionable).

This team need turnovers to help them with offense since they more than likely will go on a shooting drought.

3. Zach Randolph should do what he does best….GO TO WORK!!! First name 20, last name 10 shouldn’t have much of a problem getting what his wants.

4. Vince Carter has to continue to show the youngsters he still has it. He’s scored in double figures in the last two games.

5. Birdman, Birdman, Birdman…I just wanted to say that.

6. Fun..the Grizzlies just need to go out there and have fun. Like Coach Joerger,

“It’s going to be kick, scratch, bite, claw. We come out swinging every night and we’ve got to do it together.”

7. Clutch Conley and Super Mario will show up and do work on both ends of the floor. Conley is shooting 50 percent and averaging 19.2 points in his last five games. Chalmers is averaging 10.4 points and shooting 52.6 percent in that same span.

Prediction

In the words of Matt Barnes:

Brandon Wright put it perfectly after the victory over the Timberwolves:

“Just get out there and play. Next man up, whoever can play has to play. We got to find a way to get it done. Every game is going to be tough like this for the rest of the year.”

The Goon Squad just have to be ready and do what they do!!
