The Grizzlies must win against the Timberwolves tonight after a disappointing loss to the Thunder last night. Losing to the Thunder was a devastating blow to their goal of gaining ground in the standings. It will be tight race going forward and every win counts.

Keys to a win for the Grizzlies

The Grizzlies will be without Marc Gasol, Chandler Parsons and Tony Allen for tonight’s game.

The Grizzlies have to find a way to win without them especially Marc Gasol. Gasol has been playing at a high level and his presence will be missed in the game tonight.

So it’s up to Mike Conley to be the catalyst for a win. In the last 10 games, Conley has been playing at an elite level. He’s averaging 20.4 points, 6.2 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals in this span. Conley must have his way with the Wolves guards and put up great numbers tonight.

Zach Randolph also has to be productive for the Grizzlies to win. Zbo is more than likely to get the start. He is has been playing good basketball as of late. He is averaging 16.1 points and 9.3 rebounds during the last 10 games while shooting 50 percent from the field. During this time span Zbo is shooting 76.0 percent in the restricted area.

Zbo must go to work in the restricted area and work his magic against Karl-Anthony Towns and Gorgui Dieng. Both will try their best to upset his rhythm.

Speaking of Karl-Anthony Towns, he is averaging 23 points, 11.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in this season; all of which are career highs for his second season in the NBA. Who will be able to contain him?

While Zbo will have his hands full without his brother from another mother, it will be a time for someone else to shine. Who will it be? It can be Troy Daniels, JaMychal Green, James Ennis, Vince Carter or Deyonta Davis. Most importantly, it can be a breakout game for Brandan Wright, if he sees the floor.

The Grizzlies are 2-1 against the Wolves this season. The lone win for the Wolves came when the Grizzlies rested both Gasol and Conley. Let’s hope the Grizzlies has enough firepower to leave Minnesota with a victory.
