Grizzlies hope to win three in a row in honor of Grizzmas!!

The Grizzlies will face the Washington Wizards for the second and final time this season. The Grizzlies played the Wizards in Memphis a little over a week ago. The Grizzlies defeated the Wizards 95-112. Marc Gasol and Matt Barnes were a key part of the Grizzlies decisive victory. Now they must face the Wizards at home.

Consistency from the starting line up

All 5 starters need to be on their A++ game. All of them should be in double figures like the last outing against Washington. Gasol and Mike Conley have to lead the way. In the last win against the Wizards, Gasol powered the Grizzlies to victory with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Conley went 7-of-14 from the field and 2-of-4 from beyond the arc for 18 points and 11 assists.

Courtney Lee, I am still looking for you to score 20 or more points. In the last game against the Wizards, he scored 15 points. Why can’t he get over the hump tonight?

Everyone should help on the boards especially the guards. Since Zach Randolph is not in the starting line-up, Matt Barnes has been crucial with rebounding. He has 20 rebounds in the past two games. Barnes also had his season high of 20 points against the Wizards.

Effort for 48 minutes

Defend the 3 point line. This goes without saying. The Grizz cannot allow the Wizards to get hot from the three point line. The defense the Grizzlies are known for should be displayed in all four quarters.  The Grizzlies need to take this game seriously and not look past the Wizards by any means. The Wizards will seek revenge from their loss in Memphis last week.

Bench production

Randolph and Tony Allen should lead the charge for the bench unit. I know it may be an adjustment for them; but they must make the best of it. I am looking for Allen to cause chaos on the defensive end. Mario Chalmers should have a better shooting performance than he had against the Sixers last night. He went 1-of-7 from the field; he lead the team assists (7) and steals (4).

This game will not be easy by no means. The Grizzlies just have to show up with effort and consistency for the full 48 minutes. All Heart..Grit..Grind must be displayed by this squad to leave DC with an early Grizzmas present for GrizzNation.
