Analysis

The Grizzlies ended 2016 with a win. They have been consistent on both ends of the floor in two straight games. Their bench have provided the lift with outstanding play from Zach Randolph and Troy Daniels among others. In the last two games the bench has scored 102 points. It seems as everything is coming together for the time being.

They are still a work in progress once they get all their available players healthy. Hopefully, Brandon Wright will be back to make the circle complete.

What They Said!!

David Fizdale

ON IF HE LIKED HOW THE DEFENSE TRAVELED TONIGHT

“Absolutely. You know that makes me happy when I see us getting after it like that. We were really connected, working with our voices, guys were really backing each other up when there was a breakdown. So it never turned into two or three problems and we would just solve the problem during the possession. I thought our leadership was great tonight – making sure we stayed connected while they made little runs. But, yeah our defense was right on point.”

Mike Conley

ON THE TEAM’S PLAY AND BLOWING IT OPEN IN THE THIRD QUARTER

“Yeah, when we’re shooting like we were tonight, we’re tough – we’re a tough team because we play so hard on the defensive end. The ball was shared so much tonight. I thought guys got a lot of easy looks, a lot of confident opportunities. That came from our mindset coming in, just being locked in, being focused and [being] all about business.”

ON HIS PAIN TOLERANCE AND HOW HE FEELS AFTER ANOTHER INJURY

“I felt great – I felt great. I think the couple days I had to let my toe die down a little bit, let the swelling die down a little bit was perfect. I’m proud of the guys stepping up in the OKC game and making the plays to win that one and getting us on the right track again to where we got to this first game of the road trip and we’re locked in and ready to go.”

ON THE TEAM PLAYING THROUGH CONSTANT SETBACKS

“We have a mental mindset – a mental toughness about this group that it feeds off of one another. One guy goes down and he comes back, everybody else is like ‘man, I can’t be sitting down because I have a sore elbow or I’m sick’ or anything so everybody feeds off of that. We have that kind of mentality and it makes us a different team I think.”

Up Next
