Quotables

GRIZZLIES GUARD MIKE CONLEY

On Vince Carter’s play:

“Vince was huge tonight, man. He made play after play. I mean, that’s what this team is about: guys stepping up, guys being available to do the little things. We needed him tonight on a night that, you know, wasn’t pretty, but found a way.”

On the success of the offense tonight:

“We moved the ball well. I thought that, you know, nobody held it too long. I think that we swung it, we made plays for one another. Guys were screening, just allowing each other to get better looks, passing up good looks for great ones. I think our defense helped that a lot, you know. We got a lot of deflections, a lot of early steals and opportunities to run.”

GRIZZLIES HEAD COACH DAVID FIZDALE

On the game:

“We moved the ball better. I think we had 29 assists tonight. We really stressed that the last day and a half, being willing to share the game and get the ball to the other side of the floor, get to second situations. We really stressed that this week, so the guys took it to heart and it helped us grow a little bit and build trust. You saw down the stretch, James Ennis ended up hitting a big three for us off of ball movement. Vince did a great job of posting and getting the ball, drawing double teams and moving the ball out of the post tonight. It was just, overall, a solid game and for Mike [Conley] not to have a big game for us and for us to still win is a big sign for us.”
