All Heart Blog Chat: Men of Grizznation Edition

Some fellas of GrizzNation have come together to answer a few questions about our Memphis Grizzlies:

1) What are your thoughts on the improved bench play?

@natediggy75: I love the frenetic play of the second unit. It changes the pace immediately with Calathes and Tony playing the role of YMCA bully. I would still like Tony back in with the starters, but for now they are special unit.

@LilChub1990: Our bench has always been valuable to our success. I think they have played well together for the most part and contributed to the best of their ability. Beno Udrih and Kosta Kofuos are two of the most undervalued bench players in the league and it’s been a pleasure to see them find a home.

@camassappraisal: Excited to see that we have so much depth and that they are playing with so much continuity. The depth will be key in the playoffs.

@fastbreakbreak: Watching the Calathes/TA/Koufos combo wreak havoc has been monstrously fun. Beno has been impressively consistent. Big change in the Rockets game was pulling Leuer quickly and finally having Jeff Green play PF with the second unit.

@The_Indian_Shiv: I’m so happy with the way the bench is playing! I think the Beno and Nick are doing an excellent job together. One thing I would like to see is, Leuer to step up just a bit more and finish his moves.

@brokitzman:  It’s great to see guys like Nick Calathes step up. He’s just so sneaky.

2) The Grizzlies are 44-18. What’s your prediction for the rest of the regular season.

@natediggy75: I said 61-21 before so enough with the losing!

@LilChub1990: Grizzlies are 44-18 and for the most part they have been amazing and succeeded expectations. I’m predicting a tough rest of the season and I think we will finish 56-26.

@camassappraisal: 62-20 Losses at Dallas, Cleveland, at San Antonio, at Floppers, at Golden State, (and two stupid losses somewhere)

@fastbreakbreak: My prediction is 58-24.

@The_Indian_Shiv: I believe we will get either 3rd or 4th spot because we are getting a bit careless and overconfident against simple teams. We need to fight for every game because it is getting close to playoffs.

@brokitzman:  I would love for us to win all of our last 20 games, but realistically, I think we’ll go 12-8 or 15-5, but we need reevaluate our playing after that NOP loss.

3) Did the Jeff Green trade help the team?

@natediggy75: The Jeff Green trade has not made us better. Not yet anyway. Thus far he’s just been a guy. Tayshaun Prince stepped up big in big spots so hopefully Jeff will too. We shall see.

@LilChub1990: The Jeff Green trade didn’t just help the team it made this team a legit contender! All this team was missing was a SF who would attack the rim but was a decent jump shooter at the same time. Jeff Green trade is an A+.

@camassappraisal: It’s hard to argue with the results. He is a very talented player. He defends the three point line well, helps match up on long player (KD types) and can get his shot. However, it seems to have messed up the chemistry a bit. The elephant in the room is setting TA on the bench. He’s not happy and I’m not so sure we wouldn’t be better playing CLee or Green with the second unit.

@fastbreakbreak: Yes I like the trade.

@The_Indian_Shiv: Jeff Green helped us a lot! I’m so happy with the trade. He needs to be more active and push the team when we are in a slouch.

@brokitzman: Absolutely. All stats point to yes.

4) Are you satisfied with Joerger and his coaching staff?

@natediggy75:  I believe Joeger and the staff are excellent. They also drink a healthy amount of coffee which makes the coffee man happy"</p

@LilChub1990: Coach Joerger and his coaching staff have done a wonderful job with this team. A lot of ppl feared Joerger would take us away from that defense first mentality and we wouldn’t play inside as much. That’s not been the case in Memphis. These coaches have been the best they could possibly be. They deserve a big pat on the back from upper management.

@camassappraisal: Absolutely! Not an easy job and I wouldn’t want it!

@fastbreakbreak: Yes, they are doing a great job. Wish the front office had done more getting PF help, only having Leuer, Stokes, and JaMychal behind ZBo is risky.

@The_Indian_Shiv: I’m happy with coach’s decisions but I believe sometimes he needs to know when to put the starters in. He puts them back in sometimes too late in the game.

@brokitzman: Yes, for his second year as a head coach, he’s doing a really solid job.
