Memphis Grizzlies Introduce New Head Coach David Fizdale

What it do, Grizz Nation? It’s been a minute since we’ve had an opportunity to talk about some positive happenings with this Memphis Grizzlies team. After losing to the Spurs in round 1, and then the firing of head coach Dave Joerger, there really hasn’t been much to get excited about in the Bluff City.

But it seems as though that may change. The wheels are slowly turning for what could end up being a very interesting off-season for your Memphis Grizzlies.

With that being said…

Today I’m here to talk about the next chapter in the on-going saga that is Grizzlies basketball, with the formal introduction of newly hired head coach David Fizdale. I attended the introductory press conference yesterday, and was especially impressed with his enthusiasm about the Core Four and his desire to utilize them in different ways.

This Memphis Grizzlies team has seen its greatest successes playing a style of basketball that is almost the antithesis of the “small ball” trend many other teams in the league are moving towards. A style that relies predominantly on our established nucleus, the Core Four. (Mike Conley, Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, and Tony Allen, for those of you living under a rock)

There has been too much talk of blowing up that core, so to hear Coach Fizdale put that to rest right off the bat was reassuring.

Players that have worked with him previously speak very highly of Fizdale, and this could potentially be helpful once free agency officially starts.

And it warms my cold, black heart to hear him talk about wanting to jump right in with being involved in the community as well as with the team.
