Grizzlies Quest of Perfection Continues

The Memphis Grizzlies (6-0) will take on the (2-4) Milwaukee Bucks at 7:30 pm at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. The Grizzlies quest of perfection continues as they seek to stay unbeaten with their historical start.

The Grizzlies is one of three teams who are currently undefeated in the NBA. The Milwaukee Bucks, under the leadership of new head coach Jason Kidd, strive to be the first team to give the Grizzlies their first loss of the season. This is a second night of a back to back for both teams. Grizzlies won a nail biter against a tough, depleted Thunder team at the Chesapeake Energy Arena 91-89; the Bucks lost a heart-breaker (98-95) to the Detroit Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Grizzlies are 2-0 on this road trip and the Bucks have lost two straight road games.

Grizzlies big men

Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol should dominate the Bucks inside. Marc needs to take it to Larry Sanders and get him in foul trouble early. Zbo should easily win the rebounding battle against Ersan Ilyasova or Khris Middleton and score at will. Marc should rebound from his terrible game against OKC. Zach Randolph hasn’t had a double double in 2 straight games after having one for the first 4 games of the season.

Jabari Parker v. Tony Allen

How well will Jabari Parker play against a lock down defender in Tony Allen? This may be the match up to watch. Will Jabari Parker have his way with Tony Allen or will TA shut the water off on Parker?

Backcourt action

Grizzlies have a better backcourt but Brandon Knight can go off at anytime. Mike Conley and Courtney Lee may have their work cut out for them, but they are up for the challenge. In the last 2 games, Lee and Conley have combined for 83 points. Both are averaging around 16 points a game and have been the best players for the Grizzlies on their road trip.

Bench production

This game may come down to bench play. The Bucks bench just have been playing better than the Grizzlies bench. OJ Mayo and Jerryd Bayless may look to prove a point against their former team. Mayo recently put up 25 on the Philadelphia 76ers. Jerryd Bayless may be still salty he was traded for Courtney Lee. Yella Yella as Tony Allen calls him, may be very aggressive against his former team and try make the Grizz regret trading him. Giannis Antetokounmpo, aka The Greek Freak, could also pose a problem for the Grizzlies bench.

Grizzlies bench has yet to have a player to score in double figures this season. Beno Udrih and Vince Carter have come mighty close. They still need Jon Leuer and Kosta Koufos to break out of their abysmal offensive funk. Will they contain the good Bucks bench or will Coach Joeger rely heavily on his starters once again?

Prediction

Grizzlies have won 7 straight against the Bucks and have beaten them 4 straight times at home. I expect that trend to continue tonight. Grizzlies should be 7-0 after this one. This will not be an easy game by far. The Bucks have lost 4 games this season and would love to be the team to end the Grizzlies winning streak. Marc Gasol will have 20 points or more. Zbo will record another double double. And I expect Courtney Lee and Mike Conley to keep shooting the ball well. My only concern is the Grizzlies bench. Will the Bucks bench outplay them?

The game will be shown on SportSouth.
