In Shy’s Corner: Grizzlies v. Portland: Game 2 Analysis

In this edition of In Shy’s Corner, I will discuss my thoughts on what the Grizzlies should do in Game 2 to secure a victory over the Trail Blazers.

1) Marc Gasol MUST continue to be dominant. When he’s engaged and is a little selfish, he’s hard to guard. He’s the best player on the floor and he needs  to show that with his play. He should be the reason the Blazers lose to a Spanish player again.

2) We need to see the Tony Allen Effect and the Nick Calathes Aftermath. Their thieving ways should continue. The Grindfather and his Grindbrother should have the crowd hyped!

3) Grizzlies need a more than one player off the bench to be in double figures. Will this be the Vince Carter game? I surely hope so. Maybe he can quiet his growing chorus of critics.

4) By the way, Zach Randolph can ball..ENOUGH SAID!!! He has to continue to get in LaMarcus Aldridge’s head and disrupt his play as much as he possibly can.

5) Clutch Conley must show the rest of the NBA why he should no longer be an underrated point guard.

6) Beno should expect double and triple teams. We may see him have a high assist night and he is good at breaking down defenses. I anticipate he will have another good night. Yes, he has no chill!!

7) Jeff Green is due for another highlight dunk. The Statue of Liberty is a beautiful sight to see. Who will get posterized tonight? Let’s hope it’s Batum.

8) Will we see Jordan Adams coming? We should, but not likely.

9) Grizz have to contain Lillard as much as possible. They can’t afford for him to get hot offensively. But I doubt he has a bad game like Game 1.

10) A balanced effort from the starters and bench players is warranted. All 5 starters and at least 2 bench players ought to be in double figures in this game.

11) Chris Kaman must be limited. He killed the Grizzlies at certain times in Game 1.

12) Grizzlies have to have a better 3 point shooting percentage. They have shot the 3 well against Portland in games in the regular season.

13) Grizzlies have to impose their will on the Blazers early and keep stepping on the neck to a point of no return. They must execute better on offense the entire 48 minutes.

14) DEFENSE..DEFENSE..DEFENSE..DEFENSE!!

15) Grizzlies can you please give my friend Kate Forbis a great birthday present by winning tonight!!
