Grizz State of Emergency

Share the joy

911 It’s an emergency, cowards tried to murder me, from the hood to the burbs we legendary. Last night at the Staples Center Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan attempted to assassinate Jeff Green. The mighty Big Spain was put out of contention 10 minutes into the first quarter with a left foot ankle sprain. Mike Conley has a right foot sprain that could potentially land him beachside for the remainder of the regular season, and into the playoffs. The Grindfather has missed the last seven games with a injury sustained to the left hamstring. Beno Udrih took a karate chop to the throat when Blake Griffin was Kung Fu fighting. Courtney Lee, is, well Courtney Lee. Thank the basketball g-ds that Zach Randolph is currently has the power of Zeus.

Anybody freaked out? Buehler, Beuhler? Yep there you are Grizz Nation. So at the moment there are three teams in the Western Conference holding identical records: Spurs, Clippers, and the Grizzlies. We all know it’s tricky to rock a rhyme on time, the same can be said for Western Conference records. At this moment Memphis retains the number 2 seed. At the moment we still win out the tie-breakers between us due to division records. Can I get a witness to Grizz pre All-Star break performance record? Now, all of this is fluid and subject to games yet to be played.

Now, we could get into the semantics, and the minutia, but I’m going to save you some time instead. The reality is that the Grizz will, in all probability, drop to Golden State tomorrow night. Marc Gasol has said that if there is a way for him to play, he will. He shouldn’t. Mike Conley needs to be buddy tied to Stokes on the bench, point guard body guard. Jeff Green will also likely sit, as well he should. There should be no doubt as to Jeff Green’s all heart status. The man is simply a badass. Tony Allen remains in Memphis putting out inspirational tweets.

So while there is the possibility that the Grizzlies will hang the division banner, and hold on to the number two seed, it is unlikely. That means that we will most likely be number 5.  Memphis plays its last home game against the Pacers on Wednesday. Teams generally win the last home game. Despite injuries, despite Paul George, I believe we will win. I’m also, truth be told, ok with number 5. That means we would face the Trail Blazers in the first round. We own the Blazers. They are injured as well, and I’d put money on us. I would rather face Portland than Dallas.

“You have to be fearless, you have to believe. It starts with that belief.” -Mike Conley. I’m ride or die, and I believe. For better or worse, I’ve got the Grizzlies back.
