It’s Game Day: Phoenix at Memphis

The sun is rising and it’s game day again Grizznation. Tonight your Memphis Grizzlies are hosting the Phoenix Suns. Coming off a solid win against the Spurs on Monday night the Grizzlies are headed into what should be an “easy” win at home. However, as we know Memphis never quite gives us those easy wins.

Phoenix is sitting last in the Western Conference and has lost 7 of their last 10 games. Conversely, Memphis has started moving up in the Conference standings and now find themselves 2 games out from 4th place. They have won 7 of their last 10 games, including a 19-point win over the Suns.

The real Memphis Grizzlies have finally started to stand up and with a healthy team in place have began their return to defensive glory. In their last 10 games Memphis has held their opponents to an average of 99.8 points per game. Instead of lowering themselves to the level of their competition they have hit the court and played with great rhythm, both offensively and defensively.

While it seems Memphis has finally gotten back to its grind, the team must still approach tonight’s game humbly. Phoenix’s guards, Eric Bledsoe and Devin Booker, have the potential to score big for their team. They are both averaging over 20 points per game this season. Phoenix is in turmoil, drowning in losses, and desperate for a win. Suns Forward TJ Warren is back from injury and despite losing in New Orleans he was able to put up 20 points. In reality, none of this should deter Memphis from walking away with the win. They just have to not beat themselves.

In the previous match-up against the Suns it was Mike Conley leading the charge with his career-high 38 point performance. The Grizzlies also came up with 13 steals and never gave Phoenix the chance to breathe. Tonight Memphis should run the floor and tomorrow the sun will rise with another Grizzlies’ win.

The game will tip at 7:00 PM tonight and will air on Fox Sports Southeast.
